I’m a wedding photographer from Cardiff.

Shwmae! Thanks for stopping by and having a nosey. I’m Elen and I love taking photographs. It is that simple! But to add a little more as I feel I may need to expand…

I have always loved having pictures as part of my life and always dreamed of learning about photography, but I always struggle with confidence and never believed that I could. After a career as Cabin Crew for Virgin Atlantic, maternity leave and then Covid, my partner Nick stuck his DSLR in my hand, booked me into Pembrokeshire College and took the baby from my boob and told me to do something for myself. This was a gamechanger. My drive is people, memories and holding onto a moment in time. Time passes, people change and I have always believed that photographs are so Goddamn important.

The photography would call my style candid or documentary, I would describe it as magically authentic and quite snoopy (not the dog). I love joining people for that moment, feeling part of it and just snapping as I go. I like shoots to be chilled, led by the people in it and just natural. I may guide at times, however if I can deliver a picture to someone that they did not even see happening in their lives- that is the magic right there.

For Weddings, my aim is to be a silent friend for the day. I am there to assist for veil fluffing and strategic bra strap manipulation, but also to just be in the background of your day taking it all in and relaying to you my memories of this huge event in the couples lives. I am guided by the you  as to posed photographs and stages group family shots. They are important however I like to keep this to a tiny fraction of your day. No body wants to be dragged form the bar yet again as the photographer wants more photos of you with Aunty Doris and Uncle Bob. I want the couple to enjoy being with family and friends and it’s those photos which people will look back on for a long time. Oh, and I do love a dancefloor. Being primed and ready for the drop during Proud Mary is my forte and it brings about some epic scenes! If you book me for the day, I don’t sneak off after you cut that cake, I am there for the Boogie Woogie!

My journey into photography is still beginning and I have learned that it brings me so much joy. I leave every shoot feeling fuzzy and like I have met a friend and have built up a supportive community of people who have used and continue to support me. I want to thank those people and celebrate them and their families here as it is their trust and openness with me that has got me here! How bloody lush is that!
